Soil economic value

About the event

This webinar explores how to assess the economic and societal value of soil health and ecosystem services. Drawing from the BIOservicES and SoilValues projects, presenters will share both methodological approaches and policy insights.

Alistair McVittie from Scotland’s Rural College will showcase BIOservicES’ approach to non-market valuation and present a Scottish case study, extending the Total Economic Value framework and linking findings to social innovation. Kato Van Ruymbeke from KU Leuven and SoilValues will introduce a value-based framework that captures multiple perspectives on soil health, from productivist to intrinsic values, and discuss the resulting implications for policy and business.

This session will bring together perspectives to support researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers in integrating economic and societal values into soil and environmental strategies.
